Jeffrey Weiskopf of Jeffrey Weiskopf, P.C. on Advocating for Injured New Yorkers

Jeffrey Weiskopf is a respected personal injury attorney based in Westchester County, New York. As the founding attorney of The Law Office of Jeffrey Weiskopf, P.C., he has spent nearly 20 years representing injured New Yorkers and has recovered more than $20 million in verdicts and settlements on behalf of his clients. A graduate of the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law where he now serves as an Adjunct Professor, Weiskopf is known for his trial-ready approach to case preparation and his hands-on commitment to every client. His firm, located in Ossining, handles a wide range of personal injury and medical malpractice cases throughout New York State, and has earned a 5.0-star rating from over 45 client reviews on Google.

Daily Globe: Can you tell us a bit about your background and how you ended up starting your own personal injury law firm?

Weiskopf: After I graduated from Cardozo Law in 2006, I started my career as a Senior Court Attorney in Manhattan, working with Judge Tanya Kennedy in both the civil and criminal courts. That experience was invaluable because it gave me a behind-the-scenes look at how cases are decided. From there, I moved into private practice and worked across several areas of law — commercial litigation, criminal defense, civil rights — before focusing full-time on personal injury. I became a partner at Halperin, Halperin & Weiskopf, where I spent years handling complex injury and malpractice cases. Eventually, I felt it was time to build something of my own, where I could control the quality of service and make sure every client gets the personal attention they deserve. That’s how Jeffrey Weiskopf, P.C. came about.

Daily Globe: What sets your firm apart from other personal injury practices in the New York area?

Weiskopf: I think the biggest difference is that I’m personally involved in every case. At some larger firms, you might meet the lead attorney once and then get handed off to an associate or a paralegal. That doesn’t happen here. I meet with every client myself from day one, and I stay accessible throughout the entire process. The other thing that sets us apart is preparation. We approach every case as if it’s going to trial — thorough investigation, solid evidence, strong arguments built from the ground up. Insurance companies and defense lawyers can tell when you’re ready to go to court, and that preparation is what drives favorable outcomes, whether a case settles or goes before a jury.

Daily Globe: Your firm has recovered over $20 million for clients. Can you walk us through some of the cases you’re most proud of?

Weiskopf: Every case is meaningful because behind every number is a person whose life was turned upside down. That said, we’ve had some significant results. We obtained a $3.25 million recovery in a medical malpractice case involving a failed urologic surgery, and $1.8 million for a family where lung cancer went undiagnosed. We also secured $1.25 million in a product liability matter involving an electric skateboard, and nearly $1 million for a pedestrian who was struck by a car. These results came from meticulous preparation and a refusal to accept lowball offers. When the other side knows you’re willing to go to trial, the settlement numbers reflect that.

Daily Globe: You also teach at Cardozo Law School. How does your academic work influence your practice?

Weiskopf: I’ve been teaching at Cardozo since 2018, and it’s something I’m very passionate about. I teach Lawyering and Legal Writing to first-year students and Remedies to second-years. What’s interesting is that teaching makes me a better lawyer. When you have to break down complex legal concepts for students who are encountering them for the first time, it sharpens your own thinking. That clarity translates directly into how I present arguments to judges and juries. And frankly, my students keep me on my toes — they ask great questions that challenge my assumptions, and I think that kind of intellectual engagement is healthy for any practicing attorney.

Daily Globe: What advice would you give to someone who has been injured in an accident and is unsure about whether to pursue a legal claim?

Weiskopf: My advice is always to at least have a conversation with an experienced personal injury attorney before making any decisions. Many people don’t realize they have a valid claim, or they underestimate the long-term costs of their injuries — medical bills, lost wages, rehabilitation, pain and suffering. Insurance companies are not on your side. Their job is to minimize what they pay out. Having an attorney evaluate your situation costs nothing — we offer free consultations — and it can make the difference between getting fair compensation and being left to cover those costs yourself. The sooner you reach out, the better, because evidence preservation and statute of limitations are real factors that can affect your case.

Daily Globe: Your firm is based in Ossining, in Westchester County. How important is community involvement to you?

Weiskopf: It’s central to who we are. Westchester is home, and my team and I are active in the community — volunteering with local charities, participating in nonprofit outreach, and staying connected to the people we serve. I’ve also handled pro bono cases in multiple jurisdictions for clients who couldn’t otherwise afford representation. I believe that being a good lawyer means being a good neighbor. When you’re rooted in a community and you see firsthand how accidents and injuries affect families, it gives you a different kind of motivation. You fight harder because these aren’t just case numbers — they’re your neighbors.

Daily Globe: Thank you for taking the time to speak with us today, Jeffrey. It’s been great learning more about your practice and your commitment to injured New Yorkers.

Weiskopf: Thank you, I appreciate the opportunity. If anyone reading this has been injured and needs guidance, they can reach us anytime at (914) 350-5175 or through our website at weiskopflaw.com. Our phones are answered 24/7, and consultations are always free. We’re here to help.
